Did you know that Firstleaf Wine Club actually has multiple tiers of wines that you can choose from? Although our standard Firstleaf review is for their Classic Box (generally $138 worth of wine for $99, with coupons making the first box around $45), there are two other tiers PLUS opportunities to upgrade select bottles.
Firstleaf offers a Premier Plan for $129 a month (first shipment $60 with coupon) and a Fine Wine Plan for $159 a month (first shipment $75 with coupon). When people complain online about Firstleaf wines being on the lower end of quality, they are often only referring to the Classic Tier, which are meant to be wines in the $20 range. The Premier and Fine Wines are more like what you would expect for $30-$40 a bottle.

I have a hack for you to try BOTH the Classic wines and Fine Wines in the same box!
First, head to the Firstleaf site via our special offer link, which will always be the best price we can find on a first shipment. We work directly with Firstleaf so we change this link out regularly to whatever their best deal landing page is.
Second, navigate through their quiz, answering questions about the types of wines that you enjoy.
Firstleaf will show you 6 suggested wines for you. Here's an example of my selections:
- Caduto dalle Nuvole 2024, Rosé, Puglia, Italy, Retail Price: $21.00
- Musa Noctuaria 2020, Sweet Style Tempranillo – Garnacha, Spain, Retail Price: $29.00
- Ralí 2020, Cabernet Sauvignon, Maule Valley, Chile, Retail Price: $26.00
- 1/3 WA 2022, Merlot, Columbia Valley, Washington, Retail Price: $36.00
- Chromatrope 2023, White Blend, Côtes de Gascogne, France, Retail Price: $24.50
- Alavez 2024, Verdejo, Spain, Retail Price: $32.50
Now scroll down to this box that says “Special Member Perk”

Here you will be able to upgrade 1, 2, or 3 of your bottles for just $10 each. These wines retail from between $35 and $57 a bottle, and you will be getting them for around $18 each. When I switched out 3 of my bottles, my list changed to this:
- Caduto dalle Nuvole 2024, Rosé, Puglia, Italy, Retail Price: $21.00
- Weelderige Velde 2024, Pinotage, Western Cape, South Africa, Retail Price: $49.50
- Longitude 120 West 2020, Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, California, Retail Price: $49.50
- Au O.K.D 2024, Chardonnay, Oak Knoll District, California, Retail Price: $52.00
- Musa Noctuaria 2020, Sweet Style Tempranillo – Garnacha, Spain, Retail Price: $29.00
- Chromatrope 2023, White Blend, Côtes de Gascogne, France, Retail Price: $24.50
As you can see, these bottles were swapped out:
- Weelderige Velde 2024 Pinotage, South Africa, Retail Price: $49.50 (Replaced Ralí Cabernet Sauvignon)
- Longitude 120 West 2020 Pinot Noir, California, Retail Price: $49.50 (Replaced 1/3 WA Merlot)
- Au O.K.D 2024 Chardonnay, California, Retail Price: $52.00 (Replaced Alavez Verdejo)
By swapping three standard bottles for the Fine Wine Collection, the total retail value of my box increased by approximately $56.50, even though my actual checkout price only increased by $30. In addition, I am now able to try some of the higher end wines to see if there is enough of a difference for me to upgrade to the Premier or Fine Wine Club in the future.
Keep in mind that one of the best things about Firstleaf is that you can swap ANY bottle in your shipment for a similar priced bottle. So if you didn't like any of the 6 choices, you can click on them and select a different recommended wine for the shipment.
Firstleaf continues to change up their membership options including number of bottles (6 or 12), quality of wine (Classic, Premier, or Fine), and price (we track the Firstleaf deals daily). Be sure to come back to Wine Club Group as we review all of them!
