What Is a Summer Advent Calendar?

Well, “advent” means that something is coming. So the summer advent is essentially the start of summer. The In Good Taste Summer Advent Calendar helps you count down the days until the beginning of summer, with the last wine being revealed on June 25th. It's also just a really cool opportunity to buy an advent calendar in the opposite time of the year as all of the rest of the advent calendars come out.

What Is the In Good Taste Summer Advent Calendar?

The In Good Taste Summer Advent Calendar is essentially the exact same thing as the winter advent calendar only for…. summer. Its packaging is themed to summer and the wines are a bit more summer-y. You get 24 mini bottles of 187ml, or approximately 6.3 ounces each. The wine variety is really fantastic–whites, reds, sparklings, roses. You also get a QR code on the box that takes you to an interactive tasting video for each wine. A wine professional will tell you more about where the wine came from, how to taste it, and how to pair it.

My very favorite wine and pairing suggestion from the Summer Advent Calendar was the Wild Child Spicy Blanc with Spicy Chicken Tacos and Grilled Pineapple Salsa. Adding a jalapeno to sauvignon blanc became kind of a thing on social media in the last couple of years, and this is a perfect rendition of it!

How Much is the Summer Advent Calendar?

Because the 2026 has sold out, I can't say for certain how much the 2027 will be. However, all of their basic advent calendars run around $155 a box, with free shipping. There are a few ways to save money on them:

How Should You Drink the Summer Advent Calendar?

This may seem like an odd questions, but there are really a lot of different ways to make the most of your advent calendar.

Traditional advent calendar. Open one square a day and drink that wine yourself.
Traditional advent calendar x 2. Get a box each for you and a partner or friend and enjoy a daily wine tasting together.
Wine Tasting Night. Go all in with a group of friends and open the whole box in one night and do a big wine tasting. It will be about 24 glasses of wines, so grab a few friends!
Anything goes. Buy the box and pull out one or more bottles whenever you feel like it! This is usually the route that I take. I love having basically single serving wines to pull out regularly.
