June is wedding and anniversary month. In my family, I was a June bride as well as both my mom and my mother-in-law. Historically June was the most popular month in various cultures including the Romans and the Celts (but for very different reasons). For some women it is just the childhood dream of being a June bride. For others it works well with vacation schedules and weather. Whatever the reasons, expect to see more wedding and anniversary pictures on Facebook this month!
Wine clubs make an AMAZING gift for both weddings and anniversaries. You don't have to worry if they already have one because anyone can use more wine. You don't have to carry the gift to the wedding because you can print out a certificate to put in the card. I attended a wedding of a very close friend a couple of weeks ago and my only thought for a gift was a wine club (I ended up getting them a 3-month subscription to The California Wine Club Premier Series using the free shipping deal that we have on our site).
How Do You Choose a Club?
If you are trying to figure out which club to send, my first bit of advice to you is to figure out where they live and which clubs can be shipped there. Luckily for you, we have done all of the work for you!
On that page you will find all of the states listed. Click on the state of your RECIPIENT (not you). I chose Indiana for my gift.
You will see at the top our top 3 wine club choices for that particular state. These recommendations are based on price, popularity, and our personal experience with the clubs. You can see on that page how we rate each club and the basic cost of the club. Click on our review of the club to get even more detailed information like gift options, pictures of the clubs, shipping prices, etc. In some cases you will even see videos of us unboxing and reviewing the clubs.
How Much Does It Cost?
One of the best things about wine clubs is that you can spend as little or as much as you like. If you are going for a basic club with high quality wines and good prices, you will find great gifts starting at about $33-39 at Monthly Clubs, The California Wine Club, Gold Medal Wine Club, and a few others. If you want to send a gifts with a real “wow factor,” choose to send that club for 12 months. Imagine someone getting wine from you their entire first year of marriage!!
If you want really high end wine, you can also find that with a few of the clubs. Priced at up to $100 a bottle, if you know the recipient is a true wine lover and you want to splurge on them for the special occasion, you'll find unique, artisan wines (mainly reds) on the higher end of the spectrum.
When Can I Send It?
The beauty of a wine club is that with many of these clubs, you can pay for the gift at the very last minute and print out the card to take with you to the wedding. If someone is far away, you can order the gift today and have an email sent to them. Although the wine may not get to them for a few weeks (each clubs ships at different times), it is so nice to be able to give a certificate that says “wine is coming!!!” so that they know you thought of them but also have something to look forward to.
Speaking of wine and anniversaries, I am heading to Cooper's Hawk with my husband tonight to celebrate our 16th anniversary (remember…June bride!). I can't imagine we will ever have an anniversary celebration again that doesn't somehow involve wine!
Head on over to Shop By State page now and start looking for the right club for you.
