Cellars Wine Club Premium Review with Video

Cellars Wine Club Premium Review

Cellars Wine Club Premium Shipment

When you get a knock on the door and see it is the UPS man with a shipment from Cellars Wine Club, you know it is going to be a good evening. I recently received my first shipment of the Cellars Wine Club Premium Club (pictured at the left) and took a few minutes to review my shipment via the video below. This was my first experience with any of the wines from Cellars Wine Club, and it is safe to say that I was more than happy with what I received and how I received it. From the unboxing of the shipment through the actual tasting of the two bottles, Cellars did not disappoint.

Unpacking the Wine Club Box

Cellars Wine Club shipments are sent via UPS in a plain brown box. Inside they are tightly packaged with materials that are molded in the shape and size of the wine bottles. I received a bottle of red and a bottle of white because I ordered the mixed pack. Also included was the “Tasting Notes” newsletter. There was no chance for bottle breakage or damage. I did have to be at home to sign for the box (or someone over 21).

The Wine and Notes

I received as my white wine selection the 2009 Royal Chenin Blanc from Valley Vineyards in South Africa. I learned from the tasting notes that the wine would be best chilled and either served on its own or with light dishes such as salad, anti pasta, or seafood. I ended up drinking it by itself and enjoyed it a great deal that way. I had never had a Chenin Blanc before, but it was in line with the whites that I tend to prefer (dry, not too sweet).

My red wine selection was the 2006 Climbing Cabernet Sauvignon Orange from Cumulus Wines in Australia. I have not yet tasted it, but the tasting notes tell me that it would be good now through 2014 and might be well paired with a BBQ steak. I don't think that I will have a problem with that! If I had selected the two red pack, I would also have received the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo Red Blend from Baron de Capel in Spain.

Cellars Wine Club as a Gift

Although I ordered this particular wine club for myself, I was evaluating whether the Cellars Wine Club Premium would make a good gift. Given the price point, the ease of ordering, the taste of the wine, and the ability to choose how many months I would like to order the club for, I definitely will be ordering this wine club as a gift in the future.
